William Connors was born on 1st of May 1863 in Newport. His parents were Patrick Connors and Margaret McNulty. His mother died when he was three years old. For a while he lived with his sister Mary and her husband in Castle Street. He worked as a labourer and was involved in a number of brawls with his neighbours in Mellon Square. He died on 16 October 1900, aged 37.
Mary Collins was born on 6 February 1863 in Newport. Her parents were Patrick Collins and Johanna Hegarty. She worked as a charwoman. Like her husband, she too was involved in a number of court cases as a witness and as a defendant. She died on 14 August 1935.
William and Mary married in 1885 and lived in Mellon Square. They had four children, only two of whom survived to adulthood.
