These documents describe the circumstances of Quinlan’s death on April 9th 1928. He was found dead under an upturned cart by the road from Castletownbere to Kilcatherine. The cart was being pulled by a jennet, or small horse and it was assumed that the horse may have lost it’s footing on a steep stretch of the road. The certificate says that the death was reported by Quinlan’s son, Con, and describes him as being present at the death which was obviously not the case.
