Quinlan was born on 3rd of July 1899 in Kilcatherine and baptised on July 6th in Eyeries. After taking part in the War of Independence, he travelled to the USA in 1923 and became a US citizen in 1928 . He married Mary Brooks and they had five daughters. The family lived in Boston, Massachusetts and returned to Kilcatherine in the 1930s where they settled on the family farm. He died in 1983.
