Peter McDonagh & Catherine Geary

Peter MCDONAGH was born on 8 April 1916 in Spanish Parade, Galway. He was a carpenter. He spent periods of time working in England and eventually the family emigrated in the 1950s. They lived in Orsett and then in Dagenham. Peter worked for the Greater London Council and eventually became a Clerk of Works until his retirement. He died in 1989.

Catherine GEARY was born on 14 December 1913 in Fair Hill, Claddagh, Galway. She died in 1971.

Peter and Catherine married on 14 October 1936. They had nine children, two of whom died in infancy. After Catherine’s death, Peter married Irene SMITH.
