Although Patrick’s father is named Quinlan in civil records, Church records require a saint’s name and, therefore, he is referred to as Kilian here. On February 11th, Quinlan travelled to Castletownbere to register the birth and the date was incorrectly recorded as January 24th. Such errors were common at the time.
