Patrick Connors & Mary Barry

Patrick Connors was born on 13 November 1886 in Newport. His parents were William Connors and Mary Collins. He first worked as an errand boy, once being charged with vagrancy He joined the Army in 1904 and served in the First World War. After the war, he worked as a labourer. He died on 7 March 1932.

Mary Barry was was born on 13 December 1894 in Newport. Her mother, Catherine Barry, was unmarried and died when Mary was 11 months old. Her father’s name is not recorded. Mary was then brought up by her grandparents. She attended Holy Cross School from 1902 to 1908. During the First World War, she was a munitions worker. She died on 5 Feb 1924.
