Patrick Connors & Margaret McNulty

Patrick Connors was born on 13 January 1825 in Thomas Street, Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland. He emigrated to Newport, Wales around 1860. He worked as a dock labourer and a shoemaker. He died on 1st of September 1880 in Speedwell Street, Newport.

Margaret McNulty is not recorded in any documents prior to her marriage and the birth of her children. It is believed she was born in Dungarvan, Waterford around 1825 but this is not certain. She died on 24th November 1866 in Castle Street, Newport.

Patrick and Margaret appear to have married on 11 February 1846, and to have had three children in Ireland, only one of whom survived to adulthood. They emigrated to Newport, Wales around 1860. They lived in Arms Buildings, Commercial Road and then in Castle Street where their fourth child was born.

After Margaret’s death, Patrick married Honora Hunt, nee Riady, in 1868. They had three children:

Nora, born in 1871;
Patrick, born in 1875
Ellen, born in 1877

In 1870, Patrick was convicted of assaulting Honora. Following his death, Honora was sentenced to six months imprisonment for the manslaughter of Catherine Regan.
