Patrick Connor 1870 Assault Charge

In 1870, Patrick Connors was charged with assaulting his second wife, Honora. She also appears at the same session charged with criminal damage. However it is unclear whether the two events are related.

BEATING HIS WIFE -Patrick Connor was charged under a warrant with assaulting his wife Honora Connor. Complainant wished to make it up.—By the Bench My husband has been charged with a similar otfence before.—Defendant promised to behave better in future, and was discharged upon paying costs, and was also bound over to keep the peace for six months.”
WILFUL DAMAGE.—Honora Connor, the last complainant, was now summoned for breaking nine panes of glass, in a window, the property of Mr. S. T. Evans.—Complainant was represented by Mr. Walter Cousins, who proved the damage, which amounted to the sum of six shillings. Defendant promised to replace the damage if the Bench would give her an opportunity.—Adjourned for a week, in order to grant such opportunity.”
