Dineens in Incheese in 1852

John M Dineen was born around 1840 and, at the time of his marriage in 1865 was living in Incheese. The marriage certificate identifies his father as Michael Dineen.

There is only one baptism record for a John Dineen around this time, the baptism of John Dineen in Gortlehard in 1838. The father is Michael Dineen and the wife is Honora McCarthy. Gortlehard neighbours Incheese and the baptisms of this couple’s children in later years record their birthplace as Incheese.

However, searching the Griffiths Valuations for this period fails to locate a matching tenancy. In Inchee, there are only two tenancies to people called Dineen

Jeremiah Dineen, Map references 3a and 4b

Patrick Dineen, Map reference 5

Image 1 below shows the ledger. Image 2 is the Griffiths map, where areas 3,4 and 5 can be seen marked in red. Image 3 is a copy overlaid on a modern map. The map at the bottom of the page is interactive, with a marker showing Inchee and with facility to zoom in out and to pan in any direction,

There is no way of identifying which of these relates to John M Dineen. Either Patrick or Jeremiah (or both) may his older brother or his uncle, or there may be no conection.
