Denis Downey (Bawn) was born around 1810 in Tuireen Ban na Greine,Kilcatherine. The names of his parents are not recorded. He was a farmer on a small holding at Gortgariff. He died on the 23rd of August 1899, aged 89.
Mary Houlihan was born around 1800. Little is recorded about her, other than the references in Riobard O’Dwyer’s book, Annals of Beara1.
They had children two children.
